One of less than 50 copies issued as the third printing of this chapbook originally released in 2004. One folding plate. Mutations is Hugh Thomas' first book of poetry. Many of the poems contained within are rearrangements of already existing textual material (ads, spam, artist statements, overheard conversation, other poems), some of which are recognizable and some of which are not. No matter how much you try, these poems must not be read as a critique of their inspired texts. Readers should attempt to keep in mind that the poet is really trying with all his might to write poems using those resources that come to hand that prove to be intrinsically compelling.
